BLA Select Teams

Recently the Buffalo Lacrosse Association (formerly South Buffalo) and the Buffalo Lacrosse Academy summer travel teams decided the best way to serve Western New York's most passionate lacrosse players was to combine our efforts.  By teaming up, the two organizations have sent a message that Buffalo lacrosse is serious about doing what is in the best interest of our area's student athletes who are serious about competing against some of the best teams in world and eventually playing college lacrosse.  Beginning in 2010, the combined teams will continue to focus on character and skill development in all of our student-athletes first and foremost.  These teams will provide parents and players the opportunity to be apart of the Western New York lacrosse community while exposing them to higher-level lacrosse, the college admission process, college coaches seeking recruits, and most importantly, new lacrosse friends.

Summer Format

• Team Buffalo - The best players WNY and Southern Ontario has to offer
• Rising Seniors -This team will be comprised of the best current high school Juniors (i.e. Rising Seniors) after Team Buffalo has been selected
• Rising Juniors - This team will be comprised of the best current high school Sophomores (i.e. Rising Juniors) after Team Buffalo has been selected
• U15 Rising Sophomores and U15 Rising Freshman - Two select teams for players who are entering Freshman or Sophomore year in high school
• U13 - This team is for players entering 8th grade or younger. The U13 travel select team will be selected from the Under 13 Rising Stars Program. Please sign up for the U13 Rising Stars Program and indicate whether you would like to be considered for the U13 Travel Select Team (for an additional registration fee).

Fall Format

In the fall, the BLA will travel to u17 tournaments for those able to commit.  More forthcoming in the summer.

Tryout Process | register now

All U17 and U15 Players - Sign up for a 1-day tryout to take place in February.  After this tryout the player will be sent an email indicating whether they made their respective team or not.  For those making a team, a $200 non-refundable deposit will be required to reserve thier roster spot."

All U13 Players should sign up for the U13 Rising Stars Program, and athletes will be selected from the program to fill the U13 Travel Select Team (see summer format above).

Upon making one of the BLA Select Teams, players can expect:

• Team and College information night at Medaille College (not u13)
• 3 or more tournaments
• Opportunity to travel to Europe
• Game Jersey and Shorts
• U17 electronic roster sent to EVERY college lacrosse program including list of summer tournaments and link to BLA player profile page
• Weekly practices
• Game DVD and membership to Coaches Eye online recruiting video service (optional) (not u13)
• Discount at local retail stores
• Discount on Fall Ball training, Winter Warm-up League
• U13 Only: Rising Stars Camp
• Listed on the online roster with U17 players able to post athletic profile for college coaches to view
• Opportunity to playing on Alumni team upon graduation from high school

Safety, Health, and Fitness

A certified athletic trainer is anticipated at all Select Team events.

Instruction Team
