2005
BLA established

After my best friend introduced me to lacrosse in 9th grade I was hooked! He and I both went on to successfully play college lacrosse and after moving back to Buffalo we wanted to give back to the sport that gave us so much. In 2005 we established the Buffalo Lacrosse Academy with a mission to instill lacrosse passion, grow friendships and for those interested, play college lacrosse.

2006
First travel teams began training

In 2006 our first travel teams began training and hit the road expecting nothing less than Buffalo gritty yet clean lacrosse. Lacrosse is about having fun and playing on a travel team is about the opportunity to grow long lasting friendships first and foremost. I am most proud, and the only reason I am still running the BLA, are seeing friendships from across a wide-region build and last. I am honored to say coaches and players from 2005 and 2006 are still very close and many are helping the BLA today.

2007

In 2007 I wanted to see WNY play host to a major lacrosse event. I began the Lake Erie Showcase and Lacrosse Friendship Festival, both at LaSalle Park on Buffalo’s Waterfront, the only lacrosse tournaments to my knowledge that have ever been held there. Shortly the event was moved to Old Fort Niagara in beautiful Youngstown and renamed the Niagara Lacrosse Classic. Since then teams from across New York, Maryland, Massachuesetts, Minnesota, Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Ontario have all attended!

2006 - 2011

Seeing the need to get greater participation in the sport and develop the overall skill level, the Fall Ball Academy, the Rising Stars Program and My First Stick were established in 2006, 2009 and 2011 respectively.

Finally, as our alumni go older and wished to continue to play the game with their lacrosse friends the Buffalo Cup and Lake Placid Teams were formed in 2010. Since then, battling for summer supremacy and thier names etched into the CUP has grown into a major summer tradition of all ages!

NOW

As parents we want to provide the best experience for our kids. If your child enjoys working hard and being a good team-first player, we hope to instill in them the passion in the game that hopefully will never burn out!

The most amazing part of the Buffalo Lacrosse Academy’s history is the tremendous group of people who have contributed. With our policy of not turning anyone away for financial hardship reasons, we rely on sponsors to help keep our fees as low as possible. Let us know if you are interested in helping out in one or more ways: Picture / video sharing, team tournament tailgates, BLA or BuffCUP team sponsor, resource assistance in building a permanent BLA facility to call home and more.

THANK YOU everyone who has helped in so many ways since our inception!
